Frame Length Selection in Speaker Verification Task
نویسندگان
چکیده
In this paper an approach based on the use of different frame lengths for the feature extraction process in the training and recognition phases of a speaker verification system is presented. It is able to sensibly reduce the ER and the degradation on performance related to the training/verification feature mismatch. The potentiality of the approach are investigated in an a-posteriori search of the best combination to be adopted. A prototype of an expert system is also presented in order to automatically search, in real time operating conditions, the optimal combination of parameters. Tests have been performed on a set of speakers whose speech productions were spanned over approximately 3 months. Key-Words: Speaker Verification, Text Dependent, Mismatch, Frame Length, CD-HMM

A variable frame length and rate algorithm based on the spectral kurtosis measure for speaker verification
In this paper, we propose a spectral kurtosis based approach to extract features with a variable frame length and rate for speaker verification. Since the speaker-specific information of features in each frame changes depending upon the characteristics of speech, it is important to determine the appropriate frame length and rate to extract the salient feature frames. In order to distinctively r...
متن کاملInfluence of task duration in text-independent speaker verification
Short duration tasks for text-independent speaker verification have received relatively little attention when compared to that directed at tasks involving many minutes of speech. In this paper we investigate verification performance on a range of durations from a few seconds to a few minutes. We begin with a state-of-the-art GMM-based system operating on a few minutes of speech per person and s...
متن کاملOptimizing Features Extraction Parameters for Speaker Verification
In this paper the role of the frame length on the computation of Mel Frequency Cepstral Coefficients (MFCCs) is investigated in a text-dependent speaker verification system. The variations of vocal characteristics of subjects along the time and the related information conveyed in the MFCCs cause a significant degradation on verification performance. In our experiments we tested the use of diffe...
متن کاملBenchmarking Feature Selection Techniques on the Speaker Verification Task
As a part of our preparation for the 2004 NIST Speaker Recognition Evaluation, we evaluated the practical usefulness of five feature ranking and selection methods. Seeking for improvement of the overall performance of our speaker verification system, WCL-1, we studied the relevance and contribution of the individual speech parameters. Furthermore, the choice of an appropriate dimensionality of ...
متن کاملLocal Variability Modeling for Text-independent Speaker Verification
Total variability model (TVM) was recently proposed for the compression of speech utterances to low dimensional vectors (i.e., the so-call identity vector or i-vector). Compared to the variable-length nature of speech utterances, i-vectors have fixed length and therefore could be used with simple classifiers for text-independent speaker verification task. This paper proposes the local variabili...
